Bringing the Workplace to Health and Social Care Students in FE Colleges

This webinar will provide an understanding of what it is like to be a Dietician and Physio.

Presenting this webinar Philippa Law, The Assistant Director of Technical Skills at Hugh Baird College, will be interviewing our Guest Speakers, Kay Crotty, a Physiotherapist, and Phaedra Dhimmis, a Dietician. Both are very prominent in their fields and are both highly qualified specialists in their particular fields.

Our webinar will give you an understanding of some of the challenges that Kay and Phaedra have faced, why they have chosen their professions and the decisions that got where they are today.

Kay began her physiotherapy career in the musculoskeletal arena, having undertaken post-graduate training in the UK and Canada. She established Physiolink in 1990.

Building on her spinal background, she diversified into Pelvic Floor Muscle Dysfunction and is now one of the leading physiotherapists in this field in the UK. She completed a programme of research investigating pelvic floor exercises in collaboration with The University of Hertfordshire and Northwick Park and St Mark’s Hospitals.

Kay has published and presented her research internationally in Spring 2008, was awarded the prize for best scientific presentation at the annual conference of CSUK (Continence Society UK). She was awarded her doctoral degree in June 2014.

Phaedra Dhimmis a dietician

Phaedra has a range of specialisms, helping people who have been diagnosed with medical conditions that include diabetes, IBS, obesity, gynaecology, oncology, undernutrition, hypertension, men and women’s health, enteral nutrition. She is a Fodmap trained Dietician.
